A good promotional video shows what makes your brand, products, or services unique. That is why more and more brands are deciding to create promotional videos to publish them later on their websites, social media, and use them in advertisements. In this case study, we show several examples of how we created promotional videos for our clients.

Preparing for a promo video – where do we start?

Before we turn on the cameras, we have to discuss the details of your video. We start our preparations by getting to know your company, what you do, whether you sell services or products, and what makes your company unique. This helps us later in the creative process and coming up with ideas for your promo video. All of this is necessary to create a promotion video that fits your brand and your needs.

Let’s move on to the examples.

Promo video produced for a training company

When preparing for the production of this promotional video, we had to take into account that we will be recording the video in 2 different formats (vertical and horizontal) and that it will be in 3 different languages. So we had to plan everything very well and make sure that each shot would also be perfect for the social media version.

In this promo video, we had to show the spaces where training takes place, but also the team that creates the company. Team smiles, machines in action, creative edits – these were the main points of this video.

What did the recordings look like?

We arrived at the location in the morning and started by preparing the equipment and discussing the last details with the team. The scenes took place in various places, which meant that we had to readjust the lighting and equipment for each scene and then record several takes. Just setting up the machines for some scenes took quite a bit of time. That is why the recordings were divided into two days.

In one day, we recorded the most complex shots and voice-overs in three languages. On the second day, we recorded the rest of the shots with a smaller crew.

In post-production, we also added various animations and transitions to give the video a modern look. In the end, we produced vertical and horizontal versions for each of the three languages.

Promotional video for a company specializing in complete bathroom renovations in the Netherlands

The main goal of this video was to show a complex bathroom renovation, and to showcase the service that the company offers: from design, through the selection of appropriate materials and accessories, to a total bathroom renovation.

In one recording day, we visited various locations in Hoorn, where we took shots of bathrooms at different stages of renovation. We recorded additional shots with actors in the showroom. Here, we also recorded shots showing the showroom and the assortment. After that we recorded several versions of the voice-over in different tones, so that we can choose the best one for the video.

Production of a promo video in a restaurant for an accounting company

If you watched this video without sound, you would think it was an advertisement for a restaurant. But in fact, it is a video about the services offered by an accounting company. The owner of the company came to us with this creative idea, and we immediately loved it!

We received the voice-over text and ideas from the client. Our task was to creatively show this in the camera lens. We described all the scenes in detail in the script. The recordings took place in a restaurant. Upon arrival, we set up the scenery, prepared the equipment, and rehearsed the entire script.

Here, a lot depended on the owner, who had to learn the text and act in front of the camera. So we did a few rehearsals and recorded several takes. In these shots everything had to be smooth and there was no room for even the slightest mistakes. It was a very intense day of recording. But we managed to record everything in one day, finishing the recordings before 6 p.m.

How to make good use of a promo video?

Once you receive the video, make sure to use it to its full potential. Add the video to your YouTube channel or Vimeo profile, and then be sure to add it to your website.

Share it on social media. You can set this video as a pinned post so that everyone who visits your profile can see it right away. But also set up video ads on social media! Reach out to people who should get to know your company.

How we organized Live Event on 4 cameras for Streetboard World Championship

In this #casestudy we will tell you how the preparation and realization of Live Streaming on 4 cameras looked like.

We had the pleasure of doing this Live Event for the Streetboard World Championship, which took place at Area51 in Eindhoven in 2023.

Meet our client:

Streetboard World Championship (SWC for short) is an event organized for streetboard fans from around the world. What makes them unique is the board they ride; two pivoting plates connected by a central bar, riders propel themselves along using their upper body in sync with a twisting motion. In 2023, the 27th edition of this event was held, with competitors from countries such as Germany, Spain, Argentina, France, or the United Kingdom. During this two-day event, preliminaries and finals are taking place, in which men, women and even children participate.

Preparations for the Live Event - Where did we start?

Everything started with filling out a Live Streaming Brief, in which we got the first information about the live event they want to organize. We received such information as;

the date and duration of the event,
the number of cameras the client wants during the event,
whether we need to prepare additional materials such as graphics,
on what platforms the live event is going to take place,
and if we need to organize any other additional equipment

First video calls - to discuss more details about the live stream

On this video calls we discussed the first details of how this live event should look like, what the client expects. The brief also allowed us to prepare questions that were important to us, and the answers allowed us to better understand the project. Thanks to discussions, we were able to prepare a personalized offer and tailor technical solutions to fit into the budget.

Plus, such conversations are also great to get to know each other better and see if we have the same flow. This is also the moment when you can learn and understand more about how the production of your live streaming will look like from the technical side.

List of equipment, technical map, streaming graphics

To make sure this live event goes according to plan, we have prepared a list of all the equipment we will need. That is, for example, all cables, adapters, extensions and additional accessories, and of course such standard things as cameras, microphones, chargers, or lights.

For this LIVE event we had:

a cameraman with a wireless camera
additional static shots from two mounted adjustable cameras
video mixed live with action replays
streaming in high-bitrate full HD resolution with 50 frames per second

We also made a map on which we planned where we would mount the cameras, where our station would be located and where we would set up the camera with commentators. To adjust everything, we visited Area51 where we measured exactly what we needed and were able to arrange with them also such an important aspect as internet.

Graphics or advertisements are also an essential part of any live-streaming. As part of this project, we prepared such elements as:

animated transition
banners with the names of the competition
graphics about each rider
thumbnail on YouTube

Another important element of the live event was the preparation of the run-of-show, so that both we and the organizers knew how the live event should look like. Thanks to the appropriate run-of-show we know, for example, from which shot we start the live, at what point we can show commercials and in what order, when the various competitions begin.

The day before the event... Preparation and Connection of equipment

As part of this project, we agreed that we would connect most of the equipment the day before. All because here we had cameras set up in different corners that we had to hang. On top of that, there are many meters of cables, which we also had to properly secure so that it would be safe for the public and riders.

Secondly, it was important for us to test and adjust the equipment after connecting it. So that on the day of the finals everything would be ready, and so that we still had some time to solve any problems that may have appeared

We arrived at the site a few hours early to prepare for the start of the streaming and discuss the final details with the organizers, the MC, and the commentator. On that day, we also prepared the equipment for the cameraman, who worked with a wireless camera.

A quick coffee and at the scheduled time we started the live event, which was streamed on YouTube.

ℹ Good to know: in order for us to go live on YouTube, we need to have access to your YouTube channel to prepare everything from the technical side.

What do we do while streaming?

In short, we make sure that your live event goes as well as possible and in relation to the script. This includes such aspects as:

control all cameras
mixing of images from cameras, which means we take care of what is currently shown on the screen for the audience
showing commercials or additional graphics
constant contact with the organizer, commentators, and camera operator
showing replays

All technical things related to equipment and the streaming are on our side. It also includes, for example, control of batteries in the cameras, control of sound, that is, whether the commentator or MC can be heard. Catching problems (which always happen with live events) and fixing them quickly.

In the case of this project, we also made sure that the wireless camera was recording all the time. This footage we then provided to the event organizer so that he could prepare video content for social media. Thanks to this, he can promote the event and future editions and all the time publish content on profiles that have been created for the event.

Summary… What was the biggest challenge in producing this live streaming?

There are two main challenges in producing such an event. We need to be sure that all equipment will work with multiple connections. We also need to be prepared if there is a failure. During the streaming, other problems can also arise; for example, the Internet connection breaks, something happens to the equipment. We try to think of everything that can go wrong and prepare for it. The key in all of this is high focus, attention to detail and constant communication with the rest of the team.

The challenge really was… moving all the equipment through the skate park (and we had a lot of equipment) hehe 😁. Then spreading out meters of cables, securing them and connecting everything. This took some time. Plus, our operator with the wireless camera also had to pay extra attention to what was going on around him, because all over the place someone was riding and doing skateboard tricks all the time.

Thankfully, our team (although small) handled the project well, and we realized a really cool live stream for our client. And most importantly, it was watched by people from all over the world who supported the competitors.

What changes have we made to improve YouTube channel of Kris Florek?

In this #casestudy, you'll learn more about what changes we've made to Kris Florek's YouTube channel called Polak z Wiatrakami (“Pole with Windmills”) to improve it. We produced the first episode together in 2022, and from March to June 2023 we produced in total of 10 episodes for his channel shot and released on a regular basis.

Meet our client:

Kris Florek is a creative entrepreneur who runs several businesses in the Netherlands and has written a few books. Kris also has his own YouTube channel, where he talks about the Netherlands, shows cool places and local entrepreneurs. The channel is in Polish, because Kris wants to reach Polish people with his content and attract them to visit the Netherlands.

STRATEGY - a plan for the channel, ideas for episodes and finding a common flow

To choose the right solutions and prepare a strategy for Kris’s YouTube channel, we first had to understand the project better. Therefore, we had several conversations about the channel so that we could prepare together:

a strategy for the channel for the next few months, that is, a plan of action and the next steps to follow
ideas for episodes, so that we knew what it would take to produce them
a production plan to make sure episodes are published regularly
refreshing the style of thumbnails

Of course, with time, the strategy, and plan may have to be changed, improved or adapted to changes. That’s why throughout the whole cooperation we often talk about plans, discus further ideas for the channel and what other changes we should make to improve it.

Talking about the project and the YouTube channel also allows us to understand ourselves on the line of Video Production – Client. We are helping to create a channel, so we need to have a good understanding of what the channel is supposed to be about, its message and style.

New thumbnail style and better video quality

What have we improved on Kris’s YouTube channel? First of all, the quality of the video. We have used a middle-range equipment which provided continuous video and audio quality better than used in some videos before. We always prepared a mini-script for each episode, which helped us focus on the most important elements of the episode. On top of that, we also knew what shots we absolutely had to record.

Thanks to the scripts, we were able to prepare the right equipment for the episode. Greg, Multiflow Media’s head cameraman, was prepared for many situations that could surprise us while recording in different locations. And we visited, for example, the Windmill Sint Victor in Heeze, the Dutch Clogs Factory in Amsterdam, and the Beer factory in Zoetemeer.

What else have we introduced to get the channel on the right track? - Regular publication of episodes

Together with Kris, we decided to publish episodes regularly every 2 weeks. In between, we also tested different days and times of publishing episodes to learn more about the target audience. By keeping track of statistics, we were able to observe when the audiences were most likely to watch the episodes and which people we were reaching.

This helped us improve our plan for publishing episodes. And we were also able to improve the content and details related to it, because we could better understand who is watching us and what content interests them.

In total, we produced 10 videos for the Kris channel. These videos ranked in the top of the most frequently played videos on his channel. So far these videos have brought: 9,929 views | 501 hours of views | 83 new subscribers

We also helped with the technical support of the YouTube channel

As part of the project, we also handled the YouTube channel. We uploaded to the channel, prepared suggestions for titles and descriptions for each episode. Also, we made a new version of the channel’s banner.

For regular and fast communication between our team, we created a group on WhatsApp. We also made a special project tab in the second tool – Trello, so that we all had a better overview of the various stages of production.

Conclusion...

Achieving a daily “Suggested” tab on Youtube for three days with two different videos, our strategy has been very successful. With a planned schedule, scripts, new graphics, technical improvements and on-time work, we can improve the value of the channels; increasing the number of views by a third, doubling the viewing time and gaining new watchers from the entire target audience.
