Kleding en accessoires - kleed je goed aan voor het videoformaat

Als je je voorbereidt op je eerste presentatie voor de camera, vraag je je vast af wat je die dag aan moet trekken. Vergeet niet een stijl te kiezen die past bij het onderwerp en het formaat van de opnames. 

Het belangrijkste is dat je je goed en comfortabel voelt in de gekozen outfit. Je wilt niet denken aan een ongemakkelijke spijkerbroek tijdens de opnames. 

Als je naar de opnames moet en enkele uren in een trein of auto zult zitten, kun je je beter niet meteen in je outfit kleden. Pak het in, hang het op een kleerhanger en kleed je ter plaatse om. Zo voorkomt er kreukels of onvoorziene viezigheid (bijvoorbeeld tijdens het koffiedrinken). Natuurlijk, als je alleen de gelegenheid hebt. Je kunt de producenten vragen of er een kleedkamer of iets dergelijks beschikbaar is op het terrein.

Als je aankomt, kun je benaderd worden door iemand met een lavalier microfoondie, afhankelijk van de videoproductie, aan een deel van je kleding wordt bevestigd.  

Enkele tips over welke kleding je wel of niet moet kiezen voor video-opnames:

• Vermijd alle tinten groene kleding als je weet dat de opname op een groen scherm plaatsvindt... 
• Witte en zwarte overhemden zijn geweldig, maar niet altijd voor de lens van de camera. In combinatie met het licht kan een wit overhemd er grijs en oud uitzien, en een zwarte kleur is geen goede keuze als je een zeer lichte huid hebt. Er kan een contrast ontstaan waardoor je er ouder uitziet. 
• Vermijd zeer kleine patronen van ruitjes en strepen. Ze kunnen later rare effecten veroorzaken op het beeldscherm van de kijker.
• Het is de moeite waard een riem te hebbenhet is handig voor de bemanning om de microfoon aan vast te klemmen. 
• Draag geen sieraden die veel geluid maken of tegen meubels of de lavalier-microfoon botsen (Bijvoorbeeld veel verschillende armbanden aan één hand). Het geluid dat dergelijke armbanden maken telkens wanneer je je hand beweegt, kan zeer onaangenaam zijn voor mensen die opnemen en toekijken. 
• Het is beter om glimmende kleren te laten liggen voor andere gelegenheden. Ze kunnen licht weerkaatsen, waardoor het beeld en je outfit er niet goed uitzien.
• De kleur marineblauw en blauw worden geassocieerd met professionaliteit - een goede keuze wanneer je kennis wilt overbrengen, vertrouwen wilt wekken.

Hoe presteer je goed voor de camera? 

Als je wacht op een live speech, ben je waarschijnlijk gestrest over de gebeurtenis. Je kunt veel van die stress van je afschudden door je emoties toe te geven aan jezelf en aan iemand in je omgeving. Een kort woord of een slimme grap over dit of iets anders in het begin zal je helpen de spanning die je voelt los te laten. 

Als de situatie je niet toestaat een grapje te maken, moet je anders denken. Als je op het podium staat, voel je je geobserveerd en beoordeeld door iedereen - dat is echter niet het geval. Zelfs als je de enige persoon op het podium bent, in het schijnsel van de lichten, is iedereen er om zich te concentreren op zijn werk of om te luisteren naar wat je te zeggen hebt of om gewoon een leuke tijd te hebben. Dit is een groot avontuur en met de rest van dit artikel ken je alle geheimen. Neem nog wat tips, als je goed en professioneel wilt presteren.

• Kijk tijdens het gesprek naar je ondervraagde..., praat gewoon met hem of haar als een mens. Als je tegen een camera praat, is de lens de persoon waarmee je praat. 
• Als je staat, vermijd dan het heen en weer zwaaien. Gebruik je handen om je gedachten te verwoorden. Dit lost het probleem op van wat je met je handen en je lichaam moet doen. Probeer een rechte positie aan te houden. Zelfs als je zit, probeer dan rechtop te blijven, niet voorovergebogen. 
• Als je klaar bent met spreken, probeer dan je ogen en adem even in te houden, bevries je houding en kijk waar je naar keek. Zo kan bijvoorbeeld een videobewerker je toespraak afmaken zonder vreemde gezichtsuitdrukkingen of bewegingen in het laatste beeld.
• Waar en hoe handen vasthouden is een individuele zaak. Probeer echter niet met je handen voor je gezicht te zwaaien, noch elke seconde de positie van je handen te veranderen (eenmaal in je zak, eenmaal op je heup, eenmaal gekruist). Onze handen moeten schommelen tussen de heuplijn en de borst en je helpen praten.
• Vermijd het onnodig aanraken van je gezichtzorg ook voor een kapsel waardoor je jezelf niet constant hoeft te corrigeren. 

Gesprek voor de camera - hoe je jezelf uitdrukt. 

Wanneer je erachter komt dat er tijdens het gesprek een camera aan zal staan, voel je je misschien meteen wat ongemakkelijk. Veel mensen stressen over wat ze zullen zeggen en hoe ze zullen spreken, omdat ze weten dat ze zullen worden opgenomen. Er zijn echter een paar tips om je te helpen gewoon jezelf te zijn. 

• In plaats van een zin te beginnen met "eeee" of "yyyy" - geef jezelf een seconde om over je antwoord na te denken over je antwoord en begin dan een grammaticaal correcte zin. 
• Maak je geen zorgen over fouten, woorden door elkaar halen of een verspreking is iets natuurlijks. Mensen merken dit meestal niet op bij het bekijken van een opgenomen gesprek of een livestream. Corrigeer het woord indien nodig, en ga dan verder met je toespraak. Natuurlijk zijn er situaties waarin een perfecte scripttekst moet worden gebruikt, dan is het beter om de crew te horen en een nieuwe take op te nemen. Het opnemen van een paar shots op een gescripte, complexe tekst is niet ongebruikelijk.
• Als er een microfoon voor je neus staat, probeer er dan naar toe te spreken, draai je hoofd niet opzij terwijl je spreekt. Je kunt dingen en mensen naast je aanspreken door je hoofd opzij te bewegen terwijl je je mond op dezelfde afstand van de microfoon houdt.
• Spreek duidelijk en rustig, haast je niet. Je klinkt dan minder gestrest en mensen zullen gemakkelijk begrijpen wat je zegt.
• Spreek tot je publiekzelfs als je het publiek niet kunt zien. Stel je voor dat je steeds tegen een groep mensen spreekt. Als je de toehoorders ziet, praat dan kort met één persoon tegelijk en wissel tussen de rest van de zaal. 
• Maak aantekeningen voor jezelf (als je die tijdens de opname kunt hebben). Maar vergeet niet te vertellen, niet te reciteren van een stuk papier.
• Probeer je te ontspannen voordat je aan je toespraak begint. Haal een paar keer diep adem en maak je ademhaling gelijkmatiger. Concentreer je op het gesprek.

Welke make-up ziet er goed uit op de camera?

Als je op TV gaat optreden, moet je niet verbaasd zijn als je voor de show wordt uitgenodigd in de make-up ruimte. Zelfs mannen dragen make-up tijdens opnames, het is een normale zaak. Make-up brengt de huidskleur in balans, vermindert een stralend gezicht en helpt sommige onvolkomenheden te maskeren. Make-up, zelfs lichte make-up, zorgt ervoor dat je gezicht er goed, maar natuurlijk uitziet in de cameralens. 

Als je de make-up zelf doet, wat moet het dan zijn om er goed uit te zien voor de camera? 

• Kies een make-up die past bij de gelegenheid en het onderwerp van de opname, als je over serieuze dingen gaat praten, kies dan niet voor een zeer sterke kleurrijke make-up, die het publiek kan afleiden.
• Vergeet niet dat poeder de absolute basis en het minimum isPoeder laat je gezicht niet glimmen en ziet er natuurlijk uit. Sterke lampen (en vaak de stress die daarmee gepaard gaat) zorgen ervoor dat de huid meer sebum gaat produceren. Als er geen make-up beschikbaar is, en je draagt geen make-up, gebruik dan een papieren handdoek om je voorhoofd, controles, neus en de rest van je gezicht af te vegen. Het zal wat glimmen wegnemen als een snelle oplossing.
• Het is beter als de make-up niet te veel glimt, dan kun je raar oplichten in de camera, matte make-up is zeker beter. Je zult merken dat de studio en film make-up, meestal wat sterker is.

Er wordt gezegd dat "film" of "TV" make-up sterker moet zijn dan normale make-up. Als je geen ervaring hebt, doe dan je make-up zoals gewoonlijk of laat de professional het op de shoot doen.

Samenvatting: Hoe presteer je goed voor de camera?

1. Dress comfortably so that you feel good in your outfit. Go for natural tones. Avoid green, pure white and black and, most importantly, very small patterns.
2. Choose minimal jewelry. Check that when you make hand movements, the jewelry does not make loud noises.
3. Be yourself, stand or sit up straight. Speak slowly and clearly, and if you make a mistake just go with your flow, mistakes, and slips of the tongue are normal.
4. Do not wave your hands, talk with them. Avoid touching your face. Act naturally.
5. Make sure your face doesn’t shine, especially around the nose and forehead. Matte powder is a product that, as a minimum, is worth having on your face during recordings, recommended  even for men.

Over the past few years, we have had to adapt to a new form of events – hybrid events.

The event industry is one that has had to especially find its feet in the new reality. Learning the benefits of hybrid events along the way. Live streaming at these events has become very popular and is being used in diverse industries. In an interview with Krowden.com, a Dutch event tech company, you will learn how to use modern event solutions and why you should do events online!

We spoke to Tyler Wood, Marketing & Brand Manager at Krowden.com (before NetworkTables) about what he has learned about Hybrid events…

If someone has never experienced a hybrid event before, what can you say about it?

A hybrid event is a fancy way of saying an event that is taking place both online and offline.

For example, in-person events happen at a venue – a physical location where people meet and gather to connect with each other. On the other hand, virtual events take place entirely on a screen, much easier for anyone to attend from anywhere. A lot of these are webinars and knowledge sessions.

It’s definitely become more prevalent in the last few years. For some time, many events were only virtual during the pandemic – it was the only way. Now a middle ground has been struck. People definitely still desire to go to physical events, if not just to see people again, but it is undeniable that virtual has its benefits too. Hybrid events are a modern type of event that includes components of both. Practically, it usually involves splitting a multi-day event into in-person days and virtual days, so everyone has a chance to attend.

Why it’s worth doing hybrid events for an event or brand?

There are benefits to in-person events and there are benefits to virtual. Of course, it’s possible to go wrong, but what we see is that many virtual event components are relatively cheap to reap the benefits. The cost of setting up an extra camera and screen compared to adding another event venue really provides little excuse to not take an event hybrid.

It provides attendees with the opportunity to choose – wherever they are. More choice leads to higher engagement. Previous clients who were never able to attend from overseas now have an option to at least partly become involved with the event. That’s a guest that never would have attended otherwise. Due to this, it also seems to have become expected in many cases. Adapt or die, as they say. Many attendees count on online attendee lists or pre-seating plans to make connections ahead of the event.

Of course, creating a hybrid event also opens the reach up massively. As said before, now many more people can see your event. Plus, they can be selective with what sessions they want to watch. People can come for just one keynote they’re really interested in, rather than investing an entire day.

More touchpoint means more potential connections, and we’re all for networking at events. That’s where we see the true ROI, meaningful conversations and new potential deals.

When did hybrid events become more popular?

We faced at least two years of virtual events, it’s something we were prepared for, but we faced a lot of customers that rapidly wanted to go from in-person events to something that was watched online.

Now, event organizers and attendees alike have seen the benefits of certain virtual components, and they aren’t going away. Even if people still have the desire to get back to see people again. After the pandemic, hybrid events are more time-efficient for everyone.

What are your tips for preparing for your first hybrid event?

It often depends on what landscape you are coming from. Do you have experience with in-person events that you want to take online, or vice versa? Perhaps you have never done any type of event before, in which case it’s basically like running two events.

Think of your in-person attendees first, they are typically more invested if they are travelling, and therefore your virtual experiences will fit around them.

If it’s your first time running an event, always, always make sure to test everything first. A full rehearsal as if it was about to start for real. To make sure all the systems and tech are working properly together, not just on their own.

Is it expensive to organize a hybrid event?

When considering the cost of a hybrid event, it’s best to think of it as an in-person event first, with the added extras of a virtual event. You will still have all the fixed costs of the venue, catering, staff, and anything else you might have prepared.

In comparison, the virtual added components are relatively cheap. For example, screens, cameras, and an event streaming solution. However, always be sure you have the staff, either internal or external, that are ready to run all the tools.

What is something all hybrid events should do?

Something that we suggest before going forward with any hybrid event is to analyse who will be coming. Younger people tend to be more tech-savvy and depending on your audience you know where to concentrate your hybrid efforts. Some people, depending on age or industry are more open to a virtual event.

Regardless, providing a virtual stream or area means an exponentially greater ROI for your brand. We always suggest live-streaming over on-demand recordings. Providing recordings are a good “nice to have” and while a lot of people ask for it, we’ve seen the numbers and people don’t tend to watch them long after the event. On the other hand, live streaming seems to bring a lot more value to an event. It brings the virtual experience closer to the in-person feeling and helps to get people into that atmosphere.

At the end of the day, hybrid events are a great way to make potential connections and increase value. Taking the advantages of both in-person and virtual is a win-win for everyone.

How much does a video cost?

Hmmm…. That’s like asking how much does it cost to build a house? The answer is one – it depends on the project. Can I get a free quote/project pricing?

Of course, you can! The offer is prepared for each project individually. Many aspects depend on something. For example, it depends on the number of recording days, equipment, scenography, additions such as a voiceover, and many other details. That is why we encourage you to make an appointment with us for a free meeting or a video call. We can then discuss your project and idea, which will allow us to prepare a personalized offer.

How long does it take to shoot a video?

It all depends on the script and the project. That’s why talking about the project is so important, because on the basis of it we prepare a script, which allows us to determine how long the shooting will take. We are able to shoot most of the formats in one working day, while larger projects, such as those with several locations, may require several days a week. 

How much time does it take to edit a video? 

We’ll say it again, but that also depends. Among other things, it depends on the type of material shot, whether the final version of the video needs to be subtitled in another language or if a voiceover needs to be recorded under the video. It also depends on how many corrections you make to the project and how much additional time we will have to dedicate to them. The simplest ideas can be delivered to you within a few days.

Do you produce videos in Dutch?

Absolutely! We have already done several projects for our Dutch clients, you can find them in our portfolio. We don’t want to be limited to one language, so our social media communication is in English.

Do I have the opportunity to correct the video?

Yes, of course. We always offer at least one revision of the project so that you can make corrections to the video if necessary. The number of revisions is specified in the contract. Any additional revisions generate costs and increase the turnaround time.

Can I propose music for my film myself? 

Yes, you can propose music for your film, but keep in mind that using popular songs can be expensive. We will choose a few songs in a similar style that you suggest.

If the music is chosen by the editor, the costs are already included in the film price.

Can the video have subtitles in another language?  

Yes, of course. If your video will be in Dutch, we can add English or Dutch subtitles. And vice versa. We can also prepare subtitles in other languages. Such subtitles can be included directly in the video or be prepared to upload for example on YouTube. 

Can live streaming be saved?

Yes, we can save a copy of the broadcast and send it to you. You will be able to share the saved broadcast anywhere you want, for example, save it to your YouTube channel.  

Can the live streaming be watched later? 

Yes, if the broadcast has been recorded, saved, and made available for viewing. 

What platforms can I choose for live video?

Live video can be broadcast on platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitch, LinkedIn, Google Meet, Zoom and any other platform that uses the appropriate data transmission protocol. When creating a live event, we get the address and key used for a specific broadcast from the platform.

Can live streaming be accessed for a fee?

Live streaming can be free and paid. It is all up to you. You can arrange to sell access to the live stream and provide a special link to people who have paid. This is something similar to standard event tickets, only you sell them online.  

Can I broadcast on several platforms at the same time?

Yes, it is possible. We can broadcast your live video to several platforms at once. For example, on YouTube and Facebook at the same time, or on other platforms that allow this option. There are various technical issues involved, which we will need to discuss together in terms of which platforms you choose.  

Do I have to give you my social media password to do a live stream? 

You don’t need to give us your password, but for some social channels, in order for us to connect the camera to your feed, you will need to log in to your profile on our equipment. These are technical issues that we will be happy to explain to you during the call. 

But don’t worry, we don’t need to know this password and it will never be saved by us. However, we recommend that you change the password to a new one for the time of the broadcast, and then immediately change it back to the original password after the transmission. 

How much does live streaming cost? 

The prices for live streaming services depend on the order and the location. The price for one hour of live streaming starts from €200. We prepare each offer according to the order. Please write to us and give us more details about your live stream and we will prepare a free, yet non-binding offer for you. 

In which cities in the Netherlands do you work?

We focus on the area around Utrecht and Eindhoven, but we are not limited to these regions. We will be happy to visit you in other places throughout the Netherlands.

Do we travel to customers abroad? 

Yes, but only to the western part of Germany and throughout Belgium.

Decided to go live streaming but completely unsure where to start? Read some of our tips on how to prepare for your first live video on social media. 

Plan what your live will be about – write down the title and take notes! 

Before you sit down in front of the camera, think about what you are going to talk about. Write down the key points that will help you lead the broadcast. Write down all the key words you want to talk about. Let your notes be like road signs for you. They will help you not to stray from the main topic during your live broadcast.

Prepare a place where you will host a live video

Make sure you have a comfortable place, preferably in as much natural light as possible. Check what will be behind you, if there are any unnecessary things. Remove or cover anything that should not be in the frame of your camera. Also prepare something to drink, it will come in handy. 

Check the equipment – lights, camera, microphone. 

Set up your recording equipment, place your phone or camera on a tripod or other stable mount. Check that the battery is charged and all cables are connected. Set up extra lights and be sure to turn on your microphone. Ah, and of course make sure you are connected to the internet – that’s the most important thing! 

You don’t have to have a professional crew taking care of the technical side of your live video right away…. But such a crew will definitely make things easier and save you stress

Make the thumbnail before the live broadcast starts.

If you already know that you will want to save your live on instagram, then you will find this #livehack useful. Prepare a thumbnail that you will use later to promote your live. It can be a photo, it can be a project made in Canva, for example. It’s important to have such a thumbnail already saved in your camera roll so that you can use it as a thumbnail for your live video later on.

Mute notifications but set your watch. 

Mute any notifications that might distract you. Especially if you use your phone during your broadcast. You don’t want a notification to interrupt your live stream. 

However, it is worth thinking about your watch. If you have planned a live broadcast for 45 minutes, set your watch so that you can make it on time. Preferably 10 minutes ahead of time so you know your broadcast is about to end. Live on Instagram can now last up to 4 hours.
